Heritage Lecture: Mike the Tiger

Preserve Louisiana presents Heritage Lecture on Mike the Tiger: The Tradition Continues with author, professor and Director of the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine, David G. Baker, at the Old Governor’s Mansion on Thursday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m.

Preserve Louisiana will host its September Heritage Lecture on Mike the Tiger: The Tradition Continues with Mike the Tiger’s most recent veterinarian and author, David G. Baker at the Old Governor’s Mansion on Thursday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m.

Baker will present  the Civil War origins of Louisiana State University’s mascot and “fighting tiger” tradition, as well as behind-the-scenes anecdotes chronicling each of the six Mikes to the present age of social media. Baker will discuss the early representations of the live mascot, the history of the mascot program and the late Mike VI with hopes of introducing the next Mike.

Refreshments from Calandro’s Fine Wines and Spirits are served at 6:00 p.m. and the lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. Heritage Lectures are sponsored in part by Watermark Baton Rouge.
